Accidents due to construction

materials being dumped on the space abutting the carriageway on the eastern section of Southern Sector Inner Ring Road. These materials are meant for the work on the Mass Rapid Transit System Phase II-B (Phase II Extension work of Velachery — St. Thomas

Mount). “There is very little space for pedestrians. They have to walk cautiously lest come in the line of moving vehicles,” R. Anand, a resident, said. Between the Vanuvampet section of this road and Gandhi Street (Vanuvampet), Whatever space is available for pedestrians, is uneven and pitted, and during rains, it gets slippery. Motorcyclists are at risk for skidding.

“There is enough space to store the construction materials near Gandhi Street. Steps must be taken to shift the materials at the earliest to ensure the road users especially motorists and pedestrians,” Mr. Anand, added.
