Several parents of St. John’s Senior Secondary School in Mandaveli protested on Wednesday, stating the school postponed the examination timing without any notice.

Parents said the school failed to inform them about the change in reporting time from the regular 7 a.m. to 9 a.m.

School authorities said they informed parents about the time-table with the revised timings through the student handbook, a week back.

A parent said it put students, especially those in the lower classes, who get dropped to school by private transport like autorickshaws and vans, in a fix.

“The driver did not know whether to wait or drop the children back home because he had to go pick up other children too,” said a parent.

Referring to an October circular, parents also voiced concerns about the manner in which CBSE-i curriculum and airconditioned E-tech classrooms would be introduced the next academic year, under the present shift system.

The school has a morning and afternoon shift. Parents said they were also worried about its fallout on the fee structure.

Nalini Wilson, correspondent and senior principal of the school, said many parents had not seen the December 1 circular on their website that said the CBSE-i curriculum would be offered only in the afternoon shift.

Though it was put up on the website, parents were yet to be intimidated of it.

“It is optional and will be offered from classes I-V in addition to the regular CBSE stream. Parents have made their representation, and we will discuss it with our board members and management. We will approach the fee determination committee before making any changes,” she said, adding classes IX to XII would continue to function in the morning shift next academic year.
