In another fresh complaint of land grab charge, the central crime branch police registered a case against DMK functionary ‘Attack' Pandi and three of his accomplices here on Sunday.

Following a complaint from Jagadeesan of Ondipudur Coimbatore, the police registered a case including cheating, breach of trust, forgery, obscene actions and threat among others.

According to the complainant, he had given some money to his nephew Shyamsundar of Madurai a few years ago. In return, Shyamsundar had given a general power of attorney in the name of Jagadeesan towards a piece of land in Meenakshi Street, K.K. Nagar, Madurai.

In turn, Jagadeesan had immediately registered the land in his wife's name. However, Shyamsundar had allegedly sold the same piece of land to one Saktivel, an employee at the State Agricultural Marketing Committee Madurai, who is learnt to have registered the same property in one of his relative's name with the sub-registrar office.

When Jagadeesan realised this, he had questioned Shyamsundar and others. However, he did not get any remedy then. In the meantime, Saktivel, in conspiracy with ‘Attack' Pandi, had threatened Jagadeesan and had allegedly threatened to finish him off. Hence he lodged a complaint with Inspector General and Commissioner of Police (Madurai City) P. Kannappan who had directed the CCB team to investigate. After investigations, the special team led by ADSP (CCB) Sugumaran searched the residence of Saktivel at Meenakshi Street K.K. Nagar here on Sunday.

Police said that the case was registered against Shyamsundar, ‘Attack' Pandi, Saktivel and an advocate.

After the change of government, Saktivel was transferred to Tuticorin district, an investigating officer said. Though the property registered to Jagadeesan is valued at over Rs.75 lakh, one of the accused had alleged to settle the complainant around Rs.20 lakh recently.
