: Successful UPSC candidates who have been affected by the “unjustified action” of the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) will launch a protest in Delhi, said All India Other Backward Classes Federation president V. Hanumantha Rao.
Addressing a press conference here on Friday, Mr. Rao said 120 OBC candidates, who had cleared the UPSC civil services examination 2015, had been placed under general category. “The government is providing 27 per cent reservation to OBCs in direct recruitment. But a few officials in the DoPT are against the welfare of OBCs,” said Mr.Rao.
The press meet was organised following the decision of the DoPT not to allocate service to 120 candidates belonging to OBC.
“The officials in DoPT have claimed that the income of their parents exceeded Rs. 6 lakh per annum and hence they are to be treated in general category. But State governments of Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh and West Bengal have issued GOs clarifying that income from salary and agriculture should not be counted for creamy layer status,” said Mr. Rao.
“The National Commission for Backward Classes in its resolution dated 28.6.2016 has advised the Central government to allocate posts to the affected candidates without any delay.
During this Parliament session, this matter will be raised by all MPs,” he added.
