The 98th Indian Science Congress will be held at the SRM University in Chennai, it was announced here on Wednesday.
K.C. Pandey, former Vice Chancellor of the Chaudhary Charan Singh University, Meerut will be the General President of the event, Ashok Saxena, General Secretary of the Indian Science Congress Association told reporters here on the eve of the conclusion of the 97th Science Congress.
Geetha Bali, Vice Chancellor of the Karnataka State Women’s University Bijapur has been elected as the General President of the 99th Indian Science Congress to be held in 2012, he said.
The annual meeting of scientists from across the country is organised by the Indian Science Congress Association and the selected host university.
The five-day event that begins every year on January three also receives grants from various government departments, including a significant amount from the Department of Science and Technology.
