The police have announced certain modifications in the vehicular movements in and around Thiruvanmiyur junction to decongest traffic. The new traffic arrangements will come in to force from Saturday.
According to a press release from the traffic police, the existing system of diverting vehicles from East Coast Road, bound for Adyar, through 22nd Cross Street will continue.
However, no right turn would be allowed from the 22nd Cross Street to South Avenue.
Instead, the vehicles would have to take a left turn in to South Avenue, turn right in to Kamaraj Nagar 4th Main Road and take a right to L.B. Road. Only Metropolitan Transport Corporation buses coming on East Coast Road will be allowed to take a right turn from 22nd Cross Street to proceed to Thiruvanmiyur Bus Depot.
A stretch of South Avenue from Kamaraj Nagar 4th Main Road to Thiruvalluvar Salai will be made ‘one way' with entry only from Thiruvalluvar Salai.
Similarly Kamaraj Nagar 4th Main Road will be made ‘One way' with entry allowed from South Avenue.
The stretch of L.B. Road from Kamaraj Nagar 4th Main Road to Thiruvanmiyur junction will be made ‘one way', with entry only from L.B. Road-Kamaraj Nagar 4th Main Road junction.
The stretch of Thiruvalluvar Salai from Thiruvanmiyur junction to South Avenue junction will be made ‘one way' with vehicles permitted only from Thiruvanmiyur junction.
Vehicles coming on L.B. Road and bound for Rajiv Gandhi Salai would be diverted through Thiruvalluvar Salai, South Avenue, Kamaraj Nagar 4th Main Road and L.B. Road.
Vehicles coming on West Avenue and are bound for Rajiv Gandhi Salai would have to take Thiruvalluvar Salai, South Avenue, Kamaraj Nagar 4th Main Road and L.B. Road.
