National level winners of Abacus contest

Raghav Rahul and N. Nagappan were honoured by their respective schools for winning the national level Abacus competition recently.

The two has earlier represented the SIP Academy, T. Nagar, at the Rashtrapati Bhavan and met the former President, Pratibha Patil.

N. Nagappan, a VI standard student of Chettinad Vidhyashram, and Raghav Rahul, VII standard student of Chettinad Hari Shree Vidyalayam, got this unique chance after winning the contest conducted by SIP Academy India Limited.

Around 130 students visited the former President’s residence and demonstrated Abacus methods and brain gym. It was a half-a-day programme and all expenses were met by parents.

Talking about the experience, Nagappan said the visit was very exciting and they were taken around the 4.5 acres of Rashratpati Bhawan. “We were told about each part of the President’s house and were also treated to sumptuous food later.”

Nagappan thanked the SIP Academy for this opportunity. “They have made me proud.”

SIP Acdemy, T. Nagar is a franchise of SIP Academy India Pvt Ltd. The organisation has trained more than two lakh students across India in its 350 centres.

It provides brain development programme for children in the age group of five to 13 years. The programme is conducted weekly once for two-and-a-half-hours.

The class starts with an exercise session for five minutes called the brain gym, to activate the brain cells to make students more focused and better their retention capacity. Every level has different brain gym exercises. No pre-tests for admission into Abacus is conducted.

Students are given assessment, based on which they enter the next level. Abacus has eight levels and three grand master levels.
