March 25, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:32 am IST - CHENNAI:

A 38-year-old IT professional was arrested by the Thirumanagalam All Women Police on Monday on charges of fraudulently marrying three women and usurping money, gold and property. According to police sources, R. Srinivasan, a resident of Madhavaram (who later moved to TVS colony, Anna Nagar) was working in a software firm.

In 2001, he married a woman in Madurai, but soon abandoned her and married another woman from Kanyakumari in 2011 without a formal divorce. In 2012, he married a government doctor in Madurai. A year later, he returned to Chennai and in 2014, with the assistance of his parents, he married a 32-year-old woman from Anna Nagar.

Suspecting something amiss, the resident of Anna Nagar lodged a complaint with the All Women’s Thirumangalam police. Investigations revealed that the suspect had already married two women illegally apart from the complainant in Chennai. The suspect was arrested, remanded to custody and sent to Puzhal prison.
