MRTS train derails at Light House railway station; none hurt

A Mass Rapid Transit System train derailed at the elevated Light House railway station on Monday afternoon. No one was hurt. The incident, the first of its kind on the elevated sector, comes eight months after a train derailed at Park Town railway station.

“The incident took place when one of the coaches jumped off the track while approaching the Light House railway station from Mundakakanni Amman Temple station around 1 p.m. The train had slowed down after negotiating a curve and while it was approaching the station,” a senior official of Southern Railway said, adding that a committee had been formed to investigate the exact cause of the incident.

On February 18, an MRTS train derailed while approaching Park Town railway station.
