DMK leader M. Karunanidhi on Monday thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi for approving the extension of corridor I of the first phase of Metro Rail in Chennai, saying that he was happy as the project was launched during the erstwhile DMK regime.

In a statement here, Mr. Karunanidhi said the AIADMK government and Chief Minister Jayalalithaa actually favoured the mono rail project, but gave it up after realising that it would not be feasible.
