Men robbed of Rs. 5.75 lakh

Two persons were robbed of Rs. 5.75 lakh in Chetpet on Wednesday.

According to the police, K. Venkatesan, a resident of Kolathur who runs a travel agency in Periyar Nagar, had gone to a bank with his manager, Mahesh to withdraw Rs.5.75 lakh in order to buy a car.

After the transaction, while they were on their way in a car, on Harrington Road, two men on a motorcycle told them that their car’s tyre was punctured. Venkatesan and Mahesh stopped the car and when they were examining the tyres, the two men stole the bag with the money and fled. A complaint has been lodged with the Chetpet police.
