The Tamil Nadu Medical Council on Wednesday barred two doctors from practice for violating the Medical Council norms.

Following findings by the disciplinary committee and on recommendations of the executive committee of the council, it has barred Jose Chellan of Choolai from practising for a year and Tamil Selvi, attached to Kovai Medical Centre of Coimbatore, for six months. A Council official said Jose Chellan, an Indian physician possessing foreign qualification (MD Russia) and MS Ortho had been practising in Choolai. “One of his degrees, MS Ortho, is not recognised by the Medical Council of India. He has displayed the degrees and practised as orthopaedic surgeon, which is against the law”, he said.
