The 180-year-old Madras Christian College’s Rural Service League School has upgraded amenities by spending more than ₹1 crore in the last few years. Clean drinking water, sanitary requirements, library and computers are being provided by the management to students.

Every student of the college is paying a small amount to provide education to the under privileged students. More than 70% of the school students are from the SC/ST communities. “The school organises many events to showcase the talents of the children, which are encouraged and witnessed by the school management throughout the year,” says R.W. Alexander Jesudasan, Principal and Secretary of Madras Christian College and Chairman of MCC Group of Schools.

The Rural Service League was started in 1938 to impart learning opportunities to the local residents of West Tambaram, which led to the opening of Rural Service League School in 1948.
