‘Madras Week' programmes

The following programmes will be organised on Wednesday as part of the ‘Madras Week.'

Railway Bala Bhavan Matriculation and Higher Secondary School is organising a heritage walk at 8 a.m. on the Marina beach.

Another heritage walk is being conducted by the Department of Ancient History and Archaeology, University of Madras. It starts from the University Senate House at 9 a.m.

Ten schools in Tambaram will participate in an oratorical contest on growth of Tambaram at Hermann Gmeiner School, SOS Children's Village, East Tambaram, at 10 a.m.

A poster competition on ‘Immortal Chennai' will be held at Asan Memorial College at 10 a.m.

A talk on the ‘Temples of Chennai' by Chitra Madhavan will be conducted at Jaigopal Garodia Senior Secondary School, Anna Nagar, at 3 p.m.

Historian K.R.A. Narasiah will talk on ‘The Righthand and Lefthand Castes in Colonial Madras' at Roja Muthiah Library, Taramani, at 4.30 p.m.

SaReGaa Children's Choir along with Pradeep Chakravarthy will organise a programme on ‘Songs and stories of the people of the Madras of yore' at Kalaa Manjari, Venus Colony, Alwarpet at 4.30 p.m.

Karthik Bhatt will speak on the Gujaratis of Madras at Sir M Ct M School for Boys, Purasawalkam, at 6 p.m.

A talk on Anglo-Indians in Madras by Beatrix D'Souza will be organised at Studio Palazzo, Seethamma Road, Alwarpet at 6 p.m.
