The driver was drunk and lost control of the vehicle. It crashed into boulders and came to a grinding halt

A container lorry lost control and hit a part of the sea wall, along the Ennore expressway, at Kasimedu fishing harbour on Sunday evening.

According to the police, the container lorry was heading to Tiruvottiyur from the fishing harbour on Sunday evening. When it was near the Old Fishing Harbour police station, the driver lost control and the vehicle swerved to the right.

It ran straight into the boulders and came to a halt. Nobody was injured in the accident.

“If the lorry had gone any further, it would have dropped into the sea and retrieving the vehicle would have been difficult,” said a police officer attached to the Royapuram traffic police station.

The lorry driver, Kothandan (27), was arrested.

“He was drunk at the time of the accident. We have charged a case against him. His licence may be cancelled,” said the officer. Further investigation is on.
