An LKG student of Chettinad Vidyashram was kidnapped from the school on Thursday morning. The boy, H. Surya, is the son of Hariharan who works at the Ennore Port Trust.
"Surya usually comes to school in a private van. As the driver was on leave, his father arranged for someone else to pick up the kid. The drivers come to class and pick up the children. We send them after proper verification," said Amudha Lakshmi, principal, Chettinad Vidyashram.
The CCTV footage showed a lanky person taking the boy at 11.47 a.m.. "The boy was quite happy to go with him," said the principal.
The boy has since been rescued.
