‘Let there be no dazzling lights’

March 08, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:32 am IST - CHENNAI:

The Madras High Court has said the government should educate people on changing their social behaviour. The observation was made by the First Bench comprising the Chief Justice S.K.Kaul and Justice M.M.Sundresh while treating as closed a petition by V.S.Suresh, an advocate, on the issue of dazzling headlights. People should realise such headlights not only inconvenienced others but posed a risk, the court said.

The petitioner sought a direction to the authorities to consider his representation of May 26, 2011 and direct all vehicle owners to paint the `Bull’s Eye’ in the headlights as per Rule 405 (C) of the TN Motor Vehicle Rules.

Mr.Suresh submitted that most of the accidents at night were caused due to use of headlights in heavy and light motor vehicles.
