: Leaders of political parties have condemned the killing of Hindu Munnani spokesperson C. Sasikumar in Coimbatore and the violence that followed in the textile city and demanded stringent action against the culprits and arsonists.

Police blamed

“Anti-social elements and terrorists cannot operate without the knowledge of police. The police should deal them with an iron fist,” said TNCC president Su. Thirunavukkarasar.

TMC leader G.K. Vasan said it was unfortunate that Sasikumar’s death had led to violence in Coimbatore and Tirupur districts.

Condemning the violence, CPI (M) State secretary G. Ramakrishnan accused members of a political party and its fraternal organisations of damaging public and private properties.

“They have targeted the schools, places of worship, houses and business establishments of minorities. But the police did not take any action to prevent the incidents,” he alleged.
