Services at taluk offices in the district were disrupted on Monday when revenue staff boycotted work demanding “stern action” against two persons who allegedly indulged in a brawl with government staff at Sriperumpudur taluk office on July 5.

Two persons claiming to be advocates had allegedly picked up a fight with the staff at the e-seva centre over an issue relating to Aadhaar cards. The situation turned tense when the public joined the argument. Police were informed and a senior official rushed to the taluk office and intervened. The warring groups were separated and the public was asked to leave the premises.

However, the taluk office staff and e-seva centre employees remained inside the office and insisted that they would not leave till the Revenue officials lodged a police complaint. A formal complaint was lodged by the employees around 10 p.m.

Some government employees from other taluk offices came to Sriperumbudur to express solidarity with their colleagues and took part in a demonstration demanding stringent action against the duo.
