There is good news for all Korean Pop or K-Pop fans in the city. For the first time, a Korean Pop festival, with multiple bands, will be held in the city this month.

The concert is being organised jointly by the Consulate General of the Republic of Korea in Chennai, Korea Foundation and the Korean Chamber of Commerce and Industry (South India). It will be held on June 29 and 30 at the Music Academy.

The audience will be treated to music by veteran singer Jung Jaewooksuch, Chloris, a new girl-group and Royal KD.

While entry to the concert on June 29, that starts at 7.30 p.m, is by invitation only, the one to be held on June 30 from 5 p.m. is free.

Meanwhile, the finals of the Changwon K-pop contest for the Chennai region will be held on June 30 at 2 p.m. The event is free. “The preliminary online rounds have already been completed,” said a spokesperson from the Korean Consulate.

The national finale will be held in New Delhi and the winner will get a chance to participate in the international finale to be held in Korea. “The contestants should sing in Korean and dance,” added the spokesperson.
