The former Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu and AIADMK supremo J. Jayalalithaa on Tuesday filed an appeal against a Special Court order dismissing her application relating to translation of Tamil documents into English in the disproportionate assets case.
The 36th Sessions Court (Special Court) had last week dismissed Ms. Jayalalithaa's application questioning the translation of documents in the case.
In her appeal before the High Court, Ms. Jayalalithaa said the Special Court had failed to appreciate the fact that the translated documents were incorrect, inaccurate and did not reflect the true and faithful stage of the trial when it was held in Tamil Nadu. Ms. Jayalalithaa and several others are facing trial in a case where she is alleged to have acquired property disproportionate to her known sources of income.
