The condition of 10-month-old Hariharan is being monitored by doctors at the Government Children’s Hospital.
The boy was brought to the hospital on June 1, in serious condition. An x-ray had doctors suspecting that he had lead deposits in his bone. However, on Tuesday, doctors treating him said that it was only incidental that they found lead deposits and ruled out poisoning as the reason for his illness.
The boy’s parents had been urged to bring toys that he had been playing with for doctors to examine. They wanted to learn how leaded paint had come to be used in toys. But the child’s parents have not been able to leave his bedside, given his condition, sources at the hospital said.
