International travel mart begins

It aims at showcasing country’s tourist destinations

With a view to showcasing the country’s tourist destinations to the world, the India International Travel Mart commenced at Chennai Trade Centre at Nandambakkam here on Saturday.

Delegates from over 20 States and foreign countries will be attending the three-day event with the major participants being Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Rajasthan, Gujarat and Himachal Pradesh.

The 150-odd stalls set up at the venue will showcase various tourism packages, while enlightening visitors about the destinations. They will also offer attractive discounts to those who make spot bookings.

The event is expected to attract over 3,000 travel agents and 15,000 people, making it one of the biggest travel meets in the region.
