Celebrating the exuberance of new age womanhood, Sathyabama University, organized the sixth edition of the Femfest, a two-day inter-collegiate cultural extravaganza, on February 15 and 16. Actor Preity Zinta, Editor of Femina, Tanya Chaitanya honoured the winners of various competitions of the Femfest.
Contests and programmes including: block and tackle, debate competition, extempore speech, phenomenal feat, quiz programme, fashion show, voice hunt, story writing competition, documentary film competition were held. Students from various colleges across India participated and exhibited their talents and skills.
As part of the fest, the university honoured the guests Deepa Malik, Indian swimmer, biker, athlete, and Arujna Awardee (2012); Jayashree Raveendran, founder, Managing Trustee, Ability Foundation and Tessy Thomas, Indian scientist and project director Agni-V project, with the title `Inspiring Icons’ in appreciation of their achievements and outstanding contribution in their respective fields.
Sathyabama University Founder-Chancellor, Jeppiaar presided over the inaugural function. Marie Johnson, and Mariazeena Johnson, directors of the University were present.
“We have initiated the Femfest annual event to honour the talent of women and their extraordinary contribution to the society. To inspire the growing women generation and encourage their skills across diverse domains we are conducting programmes that could help them emerge confidently,” said Dr. Mariezeena Johnson. Femfest 2013 coincided with the silver jubilee celebration of the university.
