A day after the body of a 24-year-old IT woman employee was found near her office premises in the city outskirts, an inspector at the nearby police station was suspended on Sunday for reportedly not taking proper action on her father’s complaint.

The inspector, attached to Kelambakkam Police Station, did not take necessary steps on the complaint filed by the girl’s father that she was missing since February 13, police said.

The victim, a native of Salem district, lived in Medavakkam and had been working with Tata Consultancy Services at nearby Siruseri since February 2013.

She did not travel in her cab on February 13, which she regularly did, and her mobile phone was switched off since then, they said.

Her body was found behind bushes near her office premises on Saturday.
