ICF rolls out coaches for Defence Ministry

The Integral Coach Factory on Thursday delivered the first batch of two-tier air conditioned coaches to the ministry of Defence. The specially designed coaches are part of an order for 40 two-tier AC coaches and 32 pantry cars from the ministry.

The order for the AC coaches are worth Rs. 3.2 crore while the pantry cars are supplied for Rs.2.5 crore, an ICF official said.

“Keeping in mind the requirement of the defence personnel, these coaches have been specifically to enhance the comfort level of the troops on the move,” ICF said in a statement.

“These coaches will be used as part of military special trains,” Major Gen. K Umamaheswar said.

The coaches, flagged off by Major Gen. K Umamaheswar and Ashok Agarwal, General Manager, ICF, have increased water storage capacity, bathroom, RO plant with dispenser, mini office cabin among other features.
