Noting that the court was satisfied that investigation was progressing in the right direction, the Madras High Court on Thursday granted two more weeks to the Special Officer to trace a missing film producer and probe the allegations that he had collected money from students in the guise of securing admission to S.R.M. University.
“We are hopeful that Special Officer Radhakrishnan and Additional Deputy Superintendent of Police will unearth the very disputed fact and come up with an appropriate action,” a Division Bench of Justices S. Nagamuthu and V. Bharathidasan said while hearing the Habeas Corpus plea moved by the producer’s mother, R.S. Thangam.
The issue pertains to the sudden disappearance ofMadan, film producer and Chief of Vendhar Movies based in Chennai, prompting his mother to approach the High Court to direct the police to trace and produce him before the court.
When the plea came up for hearing, the special officer submitted that so far 89 complaints to the tune of Rs. 60 crore had been received from students against Madan. The officer further submitted that two close aides of the producer were in possession of the money and that they would be arrested soon.
