The BJP on Monday conducted its first major coordination meeting to ascertain its strategy for the upcoming Assembly polls, with National Secretary H. Raja being appointed the head of the manifesto committee.
The meeting, chaired by national general secretary in-charge of Tamil Nadu P. Muralidhar Rao, also created 37 other committees, each with a specific target to improve vote bank and electoral prospects.
These included issues identification, headed by State party vice-president Vanathi Srinivasan and one for media coordination under senior leader S.R. Sekar.
The crucial role of attracting election funds has been given to M. Chakravarthy, another party vice-president and seen as an efficient organiser. D. Kuppuramu, who was the unsuccessful Ramanathapuram candidate in the Lok Sabha polls, will head a committee to seek the support of religious leaders, sources said. An official list of all 38 committees is yet to be released. Speaking to The Hindu , Mr. Raja said he was hoping to go on several tours and have meetings with various stakeholders before ascertaining the issues to be placed in the manifesto.
