A group under the banner ‘Christians Against Homosexuality’ gathered at the Marina Beach on Sunday morning, and distributed pamphlets supporting Section 377 of the Indian Penal Code that deems homosexuality a crime.

By afternoon, another group under the banner ‘Christians Against Homophobia’ held a press conference demanding that the church not discriminate against homosexuals.

At the rally at Marina Beach, a group of over 20 persons held placards and distributed pamphlets. Secretary to Government and Commissioner for Disciplinary Proceedings C. Umashankar flagged off the rally.

Meanwhile, at the press meet, the group ‘Christians Against Homophobia,’ a city-based collective of Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender (LGBT) and heterosexual Christians, said they will be meeting authorities of different churches in the city asking them not to discriminate against them.

“We are going to sensitise the church about inclusiveness. We appeal to the Christian community to treat sexual minorities and their families without prejudice and discrimination and treat them with love and compassion,” Moses Vikranth Prassana, said on behalf of the group.
