August 13, 2016 12:00 am | Updated 07:50 am IST - CHENNAI:

The State government on Friday informed the Madras High Court that compensation will be paid to the victims under the Tamil Nadu Victim Compensation Scheme, 2013 in 47 child missing cases.

The Advocate General made the submission before a Division Bench of Justices S. Nagamuthu and V. Bharathidasan on a habeas corpus plea moved by M.B. Nirmal, seeking a direction to the Commissioner of Police, Chennai, to produce two missing infants who were sleeping along with their family on the pavement outside Harbour MLA office, North Fort Road on March 21. When the plea came up for hearing, the Advocate General submitted that the investigation could not be concluded in 57 child missing cases, as the victims were not traceable. Of the 57 cases, compensation had been paid in 10 cases.
