Gang hurls crude bomb into building

May 06, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:34 am IST - CHENNAI:

An armed gang hurled a crude bomb into a building under construction in Kambar Street, West Saidapet, on Tuesday morning. Police said the attack was a result of a stand-off between two groups of people over a real estate deal.

According to an eyewitness, the attack took place around 8.15 a.m. when a gang of six men arrived in car outside the single storey building under construction. The men armed with knives and sickles screamed out for “Jaga” and threatened to kill him before hurling the bomb made of firecrackers. Two construction workers suffered minor injuries in the attack. Police said the men were part of a gang led by gangster C.D. Mani of Teynampet who went into hiding last year.
