Gang hacks man to death

September 11, 2010 01:16 am | Updated 01:16 am IST - CHENNAI:

An armed gang allegedly hacked a man to death in Villivakkam on Friday.

According to police sources, Muralikrishnan (28), a lift mechanic of Bharathi Nagar in Villivakkam, was going to a shop with his brother-in-law Shanmugam (32) on a motorcycle when the suspects intercepted and attacked him. While Muralikrishnan succumbed to grievous injuries, Shanmugam escaped with minor wounds. Joint Commissioner of Police (Central) P. Thamarai Kannan said special teams were formed to apprehend the accused. “Muralikrishnan's brother Gopi and others had attacked some persons a couple of months ago. The murder is suspected to be in retaliation to that incident,” he said. The police have registered a case.
