A van driver who suffered head injury when he was pulled down from the vehicle by a group of autorickshaw drivers on April 3 died at the Government General Hospital on Saturday.
According to Assistant Commissioner of Police (Thoraipakkam) K.N. Murali, the driver, D. Wilson (45) of B.V. Colony in Vyasarpadi, was driving towards Adyar from Semmancheri on Rajiv Gandhi Salai when he overtook an autorickshaw.
The driver and four others in the autorickshaw intercepted the van and pulled Wilson down.
He fell on the road and suffered a head injury. Police arrested two autorickshaw drivers, A. Satish (22) of Kandanchavadi and V. Thillai Anand (23) of Karapakkam, and two others in connection with the case, sources said.
Lodges complains
A film producer has lodged a complaint with the Commissioner of Police that a gang threatened him with dire consequences at Saligramam on Friday night.
According to police sources, R. Kannan (38) of Vedavalli Street in Saligramam said in his complaint that the suspects intercepted him near his house around 8 p.m. and threatened him.
Held with fake notes
Two persons who allegedly tried to exchange a fake Indian currency note were arrested by the Vyasarpadi police on Friday.
According to police sources, Abu Bakkar (22) and his associate Abdul Karim (25) residing at B.V. Colony had tried to exchange the fake currency note of Rs.1,000 denomination at an Indian Made Foreign Liquor outlet of the Tamil Nadu State Marketing Corporation.
The two claimed that they were brought here from Rajasthan by Rajesh, who gave them the fake notes.
