M. Vijayalakshmi of West Mambalam has been teaching Carnatic music for the past three decades to juniors, seniors, housewives and working women. She also takes free classes for the poor. Some of her popular projects are Trinity’s Sanskrit songs in Western notes; Utsava Sampradaya Kritis; Navaratnamalika; Navagraha Kritis and Navaratri Kritis. This year, her project is ‘Prahlaada Bhaktha Vijayam,’ an opera of Tyagaraja, for which she will be starting classes on Vijayadasami Day.

Sloka and music
Sudha of K.K. Nagar is starting new batches of music and sloka classes for children from Vijayadasami. Carnatic vocal, violin, sloka and Bhagawad Gita are taught here. Slokas such as like Lalitha Sahasranamam, Vishnu Sahasranamam and Soundaryalahari; and Carnatic music are taught for housewives during daytime. Sanskrit and Tamil classes are also undertaken. Thanjavur painting
Mythreiye Nandakumar has been conducting workshops and regular classes in classical Thanjavur painting for the past 11 years at Choolaimedu. She is commencing the next batch of classes exclusively for women and teens on Vijayadasami. The duration of the classes will be from six to eight weeks, depending on the size and theme of painting chosen by the student. For housewives

Kidzee Vadapalani has announced admissions on the occasion of Vijayadasami and parents can register their child with Subha (center head) at 98400 95729.
