The police on Thursday arrested five persons, including a couple and their son, on the charge of murdering a 22-year-old man at Korattur.

According to the police, Aravind, a resident of Gangaiamman Koil Street, was hacked to death with sharp weapons near his house by a five-member gang. The police arrested Jeeva, 53, his wife Manjula, 41, their son Akash, 23, and his accomplices Vicky, 24, and Prasanth, 24, in connection with the case.

During investigation, it was found that Aravind and his brothers had assaulted Akash in February. They were arrested in connection with the case. They were released from prison in March.

In an act of revenge, Akash, his parents and accomplices allegedly murdered Aravind.

The five were remanded to judicial custody.
