Fisherman pushed off boat, rescued by Navy

A 64-year old fisherman, who was reportedly pushed from a boat into the sea by another fisherman during a scuffle, was rescued by the Navy, some three km off the coast of Nagapattinam on Saturday.

A Navy team, which was on its patrol off the Nagapattinam coast, noticed the fishermen drowning at about 9 a.m. on Saturday.

A lifebuoy was thrown at him and rescued. He was brought to the shore and administered first aid, an official release stated.

He was identified as Sinduraj of Nambiar Nagar and that he was pushed into the sea from a boat by another fisherman during a scuffle at about 8.30 a.m. on Saturday. Sinduraj was later handed over to the Marine Police in the presence of Fisheries Department officials.
