Fire breaks out in Besant Nagar; 50 huts gutted

Over 50 huts in Odai Kuppam, Besant Nagar, were gutted after a fire broke out during the early hours of Wednesday. Tamil Nadu Fire and Rescue Services (TNFRS) officers claim no one was injured.

The Fire control room recieved information about the blaze around 12.15 a.m on Wednesday. A total of eight fire fighting vehicles, from TNFRS stations including Teynampet, Guindy, Ashok Nagar and Saidapet were rushed to the spot.

The fire was doused in a few hours. "We are checking the total number of residents with the help of other government departments concerned. The cause of fire is yet to be ascertained," said a TNFRS officer.
