Film Producers Council polls on October 9

Elections to the Tamil Film Producers Council will be held on October 9. In a meeting of the council, which met on Sunday, it was decided that producer Ibrahim Rowther would be the polling officer.

Council President and director/producer S.A.Chandrasekar said that around 250 members attended the meeting. “We decided that we would lodge a police complaint about swindling of Council funds. If the members are found guilty, they should not stand in elections and members should also not vote for the guilty,” he said. The association has around 750 regular members, who are eligible for voting.

Artistes' association

Meanwhile, the general body of the South Indian Artistes Association was also met on Sunday. Association president R.Sarath Kumar said that letters had been sent to various film bodies asking them not to allow non-Association members to act in Tamil films. “Those who want to act must become members of out Association,” he said.

A resolution requesting the Tamil Film Producers Council, South Indian Film Chamber of Commerce and other associations to discuss increase the wages of those in the industry was also passed at the meeting. Association general secretary Radharavi and treasurer Vaagai Chandrasekar were also present on the occasion.
