Government Stanley Medical College will soon be offering a fellowship in Cosmetology.
“Currently, we see around 200 patients a day and perform 20 procedures daily for scar removal, acne treatment, weight loss, hair transplants and vitiligo. We have now applied to offer a fellowship in cosmetology,” P. Karkuzhali, dean, Government Stanley Medical College, said.
Once they have the fellowship, the college will also work towards starting a postgraduate course in cosmetology, she added.
The most common complaint that brings people in to the cosmetology clinic is acne treatment, G.R. Ratnavel, head of the department, said. “Around a quarter of our patients come in for acne scar removal and other acne-related procedures. The next most popular procedure is for vitiligo, where we offer punch grafting, skin grafting and tattooing,” he added.
The department provides botox and weight-loss lasers free of cost for patients.
Stanley Medical College will also work towards offering a PG course in the subject
