Rotary Club of Madras Fort, Rotary Club of Singapore and The Rotary Foundation have donated an operating microscope and an equipment for takiing corneal topography worth Rs.13.93 lakh to Sankara Eye Hospital, Pammal, as part of Kannoli-Vision Saver Project.
In a function held at the Sankara Eye Hospital on July 28, Rotary International District 3230 District Governor V. Raja Seenivasan dedicated the equipment to serve the community at large and Medical Director of the Hospital, Ashok Rangarajan received the equipment.
S.A. Mageshwaran, President of Rotary Club of Madras Fort welcomed the gathering. Director-Community Service of the Club S. Visvanathan explained the project.
Former president of Rotary Club of Coimbatore Central R.V. Ramani delivered the acceptance speech. Chairman-Rotary Foundation S.V. Veeramani and Sub-Committee Chairman – Matching Grants K.S. Srinivasan offered their felicitations. Vijaya Lingam, Sivaramakrishna Subramonian and J.M. Chanrai have been conferred with the ‘Paul Harris Fellow’ recognition award by Mr. Raja Seenivasan for their meritorious service to humanity.
Mr. Raja Seenivasan appreciated the Rotary Club of Madras Fort and the management of the hospital for their service rendering to the people with visual defects. R.Anbalagan, Secretary of the Club proposed a vote of thanks.
Blood Donation Camp
As part of 78th Jayanthi celebration of Kanchi Sankaracharya, Jayendra Saraswathi, Sankara Eye Hospital organised a blood donation camp at Pammal on July 27. A team of doctors and staff of Rotary Central TTK VHS Blood Bank, Adyar, collected 125 units of blood from the donors.
Lions District 324-A6 District Governor R. Ponraj Ashok inaugurated the camp. District Cabinet Secretary K.Vijaya Bhaskara Raju, Region Chairperson Sridhar, Zone Chairperson Subramani and Pammal Meenakshi Krishnan Polytechnic College Principal Srinivasan, were among those participated. The camp was an initiative of Blood Donation-Coordinator, Balaji and Adyar Rotary Central TTK-VHS Blood Bank, Balasubramanian.
