‘Expand milk procurement’

October 09, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:36 am IST - CHENNAI:

DMK president M. Karunanidhi on Thursday demanded that government procure the entire 2.02 crore litres of milk produced in the State on a daily basis. In a statement here, he said that milk producers were incurring a loss of Rs. 2,628 crore a year. Aavin should procure all the milk and sell them to the public and provide milk powder to children as part of the mid-day meal scheme, he said.

The government should not wait for opposition parties to give such suggestions, but implement the schemes on its own, he said.
