Essay contest

To commemorate the 62 birth anniversary of Sri Bharati Tirtha Swami of the Sringeri Math, an essay competition for school children will be conducted by the Sri Bharathi Theertha Trust, Sringeri.

Students have to pen their thoughts on any one of the topics, ‘Sri Adhi Sankarar-the Saviour of the World’, ‘Importance of Guru Bhakti’ or ‘The role of youth in the service of Motherland’. “With the view to fostering good habits among youngsters and for channelising their energies, we have been conducting various competitions for the students,” said R. Rajeswaran, president of the organising committee.

According to the organisers, students studying in Classes IX to XI can participate in the contest. Each school can send in maximum of five entries. The essay (in Tamil) should not exceed four pages and the entries should reach 18/24, Kalaimagal Street, Anna Nedumpathai, Choolaimedu, before July 10. For details, call 2361 2244.
