Engineering student stabbed

A 21-year-old engineering student was stabbed by her classmate just outside their classroom in their engineering college in Ambattur on Thursday morning. The girl is hospitalised and is reported to be out of danger.

The shocking attack took place on the corridor of Velammal Engineering College in Surapet where the victim and the assailant are both final-year students of Electronics and Communication Engineering (ECE).

Around 9 a.m., the suspect, Sakthivel Rajendran (21), a native of Sirkazhi, living in a rented room near the college, attacked his classmate with a knife. She suffered a stab wound on her rib and cut wounds on the hands. Students rushed the girl to safety. Sakthivel was caught by others. He was later handed over to Ambattur police.
