Engineering student run over by train

An engineering student was run over by a train while he was crossing the track near Potheri railway station on Tuesday evening.

Personnel of the Government Railway Police in Tambaram said M. Chalukyan (19) of Krishnagiri was a first year B.E. student at SRM University in Kattankulathur, and stayed in a hostel.

He had gone to Guduvanchery, where a group of his friends were staying in a rented house.

He returned to Potheri railway station and was crossing the track to reach his hostel, when an express train travelling towards Chengalpattu, hit him, killing him on the spot. Investigations are on.
