A plan to issue computer-generated First Information Report (FIR) at police stations across the city is already in place, and the scheme is awaiting government nod. Ashish Bhengra, ADGP and Director, State Crime Records Bureau (SCRB), said: “For an electronic FIR to be used as a valid document, the State government has to issue a notification amending the Police Standing Orders. This is under way and the notification is expected shortly.” Over 23 lakh FIRs are accessible through the e-portal: >www.eservices.tnpolice.gov.in
