: DMK treasurer M.K. Stalin on Friday said his party would organise a big protest if the Central and Tamil Nadu governments failed to take steps to organise jallikattu next January.

Talking to reporters, he said Union Minister Pon. Radhakrishnan and BJP state president Tamilisai Soundararajan who promised to ensure the conduct of jallikattu this year owed an explanation to the people of Tamil Nadu as to why it was not held. Mr. Stalin also came down on the Centre for its decision to withdraw Rs. 500 and Rs. 1,000 notes, saying he was in full agreement with former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh’s remarks that it was a monumental disaster.

“Prime Minister Narendra Modi ignored his words. It only goes to show that he has ignored the sentiments of the people,” he said.
