‘AIADMK derailed Maduravoyal project’

June 10, 2016 12:00 am | Updated October 18, 2016 02:14 pm IST - CHENNAI:

DMK president M. Karunanidhi on Thursday criticised the State government for its approach to the Chennai Port- Maduravoyal elevated corridor project.

In a statement, Mr. Karunanidhi, tracing the history of the proposed corridor, alleged that while the project was moving forward in a brisk manner during the 2006-2011 DMK regime, the subsequent AIADMK government derailed it. Citing a report in The Hindu that the NHAI had recently terminated the agreement for the project with the contractor, he said people of Chennai were worried about the fate of the Rs. 1,815-crore project.
