A 12-day-old baby girl that died on Sunday resulted in the family gheraoing Kasturba Gandhi Hospital.
The pre-term baby was in an incubator and died late Sunday evening. The baby was then placed in a room next to the ICU ward.
On Monday morning, the father went to the hospital to take possession of the body and allegedly found the left cheek of the baby bitten off. The family refused to accept the body.
The hospital has set up an inquiry to find the cause of delay in handling over the body. According to hospital authorities, the body is normally handed over soon after death although it was not so in this case.
