The institution in Tiruvallur district has given an undertaking before the Madras High Court

The DD Medical College and DD Hospital in neighbouring Tiruvallur district has given an undertaking before the Madras High Court that it will not admit students until the various issues involving the institution are settled finally by the High Court and Supreme Court.

The college’s counsel made the submission when appeals filed by the institution seeking a stay of a single Judge’s order of January 20 came up for hearing before a Division Bench comprising Justices M. Jaichandren and K. Kalyanasundaram.

The college’s counsel submitted that the decisions to withdraw MCI’s permission for establishment of the college and hospital and to permit the Tamil Nadu government to encash the bank guarantee given by the institution for Rs. 9.50 crore towards the establishment of the college should be stayed till the disposal of the writ appeals. The Bench observed that the core issues were to be decided by the High Court and Supreme Court.

It granted an interim stay of withdrawal of letter of permission and the decision of the board of governors of MCI to permit the State government to encash the bank guarantee.
