For working women, homemakers and others who could not learn classical dance all these years, nothing is lost as there is still a joyful way to learn the basics of dancing. ‘Dance hour’ with Athma Laya is a weekly hour-long programme for women to learn and dance for the simple pleasure of dancing.

The dance form is Bharatanatyam and steps are simple, expressions through dance followed with a process of meditation. Exclusively for women, there is no upper age limit and will be a de-stresser. Prior knowledge (of any dance form) is not essential.

Dance hour with Athma Laya programme has been started in Velachery from the beginning of this month. Athma Laya centres are already functioning in Adyar, R.A. Puram, T.Nagar and Anna Nagar.

Athma Laya workshops are a unique blend of dance and meditation exclusively for women. It helps women to experience being vibrant and tranquil.

Athma Laya sessions have been conducted for various groups of women and they have benefitted a great deal through the sessions and has helped them to relax and rejuvenate.

Mala Bharath founded Athma Laya in 1998 and dancing from the age of five, she has been trained by guru Saraswati.
